Simple Tomato Dal

 

Ingredients:

Toor Dal – 1 Cup
Tomatoes – 3 medium sized
Onion – 1 medium piece
Garlic – 1 pod crushed
Green Chillies – 2 slit
Seasoning
Turmeric powder – 1/2 tsp
Cloves – 3
Cinnamon stick – 1/2 inch piece
curry leaves – a few
Mustard Seeds – 1/2 tsp
Jeera (Cumin) Seeds – 1/2 tsp
Chilli powder – a pinch
Salt to taste

Method:

Pressure cook Toor Dal with 2 cups water, chopped tomatoes, onion piece, green chillies, crushed garlic & turmeric powder until 3-4 whistles.

Add Oil in a sauce pan, when hot, add mustard, jeera, cloves, cinnamon stick, curry leaves & saute until light brown

Add this to the pressure cooked dal & mix well. Add salt & chilli powder as per requirement. Add little water if needed & cook for about 3 mins.

Serve Hot.
